All classes come to the library at a scheduled time once a week. During this time, they will have a lesson and a time for checking out new books.
During the first two months of school our students will learn about the library and how to use it. This varies according to the different grade levels. After that our library lessons coordinate with the Science curriculum and standards, including the Project Lead the Way modules. Our library classes use our new MakerSpace environment to create, invent, and explore new ideas and concepts. It’s not quiet and it gets a little messy sometimes, but there is a whole lot of real life learning going on in my classroom every day!
Our library also hosts three Scholastic Book Fairs every school year. The Fall and Spring Book Fairs coordinate with Parent Teacher Conferences. Our last fair is a BOGO Fair (Buy One Get One Free) that usually happens in May to give students plenty to read over the summer break. All of the profits from our three Scholastic Book Fairs stay in the Earhart Library to purchase more books and materials for all of our students and staff.
